Kuching Waterfront

Stretching approximately 1 km long, with a riverside walk linking the hotel precinct with downtown Kuching, the Kuching Waterfront is 'self-contained' with facilities for entertainment, refreshment, relaxation, cultural enjoyment and arts appreciation.
Kuching Waterfront was rebuilt to return the frontage to the people and to unlock its potential as a leisure and recreation resource for the future. Officially opened in 1993, it spans 890 metres, each step rich in local history and culture.
The new Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building, or DUN (Dewan Undangan Negeri) is located on the opposite side of the Sarawak River, between Fort Margherita and the Astance, facing the Kuching Waterfront. This nine-storey complex is a reminiscent of the Bidayuh Longhouse. Recently added to the iconic waterfront is the Harmony Bridge, a pedestrian bridge linking the State Legislative Assembly Complex across the Sarawak River to the Kuching Waterfront.
A number of old buildings have been preserved and incorporated into the design, including the Chinese History Museum, the Sarawak Steamship Building, an open-air theatre and the Square Tower.
Modern additions to the Waterfront include a restored Chinese pavilion, an observation tower, a tea terrace and the spectacular musical fountains, as well as a number of modern sculptures.
